The Tender Board announced the launch of the first phase of notifications in its e-tendering system by issuing 8 new notifications targeting suppliers and contractors. This brings the total notifications available in the system to 37, in line with the basic principles of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
This step is grounded in the Tender Law, which aims to encourage the participation of suppliers and contractors in government tenders, fostering integrity and competition. Additionally, it furthers the Board’s commitment to implementing plans to develop, simplify and improve tender and auction processes, consolidating communication with partners, in addition to governing the procurement processes and increasing transparency in the opening and award of tenders.
The Board also stated that the launch of these notifications comes within its strategy to enrich the information offered in the e-tendering system during the tender process. The updated bundle of notifications is categorised by tender stages, including: notifications to suppliers and contractors purchasing tender documents, reminding them to submit bids before the closing date, five days in advance; notifications to suppliers and contractors submitting bids in the e-tendering system regarding the completion of the tender opening process and the start of evaluation procedures for the accepted bids; and follow-up notifications to suppliers and contractors on the evaluation and award results, in coordination with the acting authorities within the first phase of the project.
On this occasion, His Excellency Mr Yaser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Chairman of Bahrain Tender Board, stressed the Board’s keenness to continue developmental efforts to enhance communication and digital transformation. The latest update reflects the Board’s commitment to enhancing the e-tendering system to improve and facilitate work for suppliers and contractors while developing communication channels with partners from acting authorities. This aims to preserve the rights of suppliers & contractors while achieving the highest standards of transparency.
Humaidan explained that the new update will drastically improve communication and the completion of works among all parties, in line with the Board’s efforts to optimise government procurement practices following a regulatory mechanism that ensures utmost fairness and equal opportunities. This achieves equality, transparency and competitiveness in all government bidding, procurement and sales practices.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, Secretary General of Bahrain Tender Board, confirmed the Board’s continued development and update of notifications to include all tender stages and procedures in a manner advancing system practices, in addition to the participation of suppliers and contractors in service of consolidating government procurement. The Board will launch a new bundle of notifications following system updates, with rollout expected before the end of this year.
