His Excellency Yaser bin Ebrahim Hamidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs and Chairman of Bahrain Tender Board, chaired the 1st meeting of the 8th session at the Board's headquarters in Bahrain Bay. In his opening remarks, His Excellency expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, for His Majesty's Royal confidence in reconstituting the Board and appointing him as its chairman.
His Excellency affirmed his commitment to continue working diligently and dedicatedly in the upcoming phase to enhance the services provided by the Board and achieve its set goals and objectives. This includes consolidating the principles of transparency and integrity in government tenders and auctions, as they are one of the key pillars of the comprehensive development journey under the prosperous reign of His Majesty the King, may God protect him. He commended the efforts and diligent work of the previous Board’s Chairman and members, as well as the Secretary General, Eng. Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, and the technical and administrative staff, which had a significant impact on achieving further accomplishments witnessed by the Board the seventh session.
Moreover, His Excellency emphasized his commitment to continue adopting quality initiatives aimed at enhancing the procedures of government tenders, auctions, purchases and sales in accordance with the principles of transparency, professionalism, equal opportunities, and fair competition. The aim is to become a pioneering model in overseeing government purchasing and sales in line with the best international practices.
The new members of the Board expressed their appreciation for the Royal trust, affirming their commitment to exerting all possible efforts to maintain the position of Bahrain Tender Board as an independent entity that upholds efficiency and transparency among the partners, including government entities, suppliers and contractors. They also expressed their support for the technical and administrative staff of the Board, particularly the esteemed Secretary General of the Board, Eng. Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, in developing work procedures and improving performance indicators in tendering and auctioning processes. These efforts are expected to enhance the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position in international rankings.
His Majesty the King, may God protect him, issued Decree No. (56) of 2023, which stipulated the reformation of Bahrain Tender Board. The Board will be led by His Excellency Mr. Humaidan, assuming the role of the new Chairman of the independent regulatory body responsible for overseeing government tendering and auctioning activities. The Board will operate according to clear standards that prioritize efficiency and transparency among entities, including government entities, suppliers, and contractors.
