The report reaffirmed the Board's commitment to developing policies and initiatives aimed at refining government procurement procedures in an institutional and sustainable manner. It emphasised efforts to foster a more flexible and efficient business environment, enhance transparency, and improve system efficiency, all of which contribute to supporting sustainable economic growth.

In 2024, the Board issued 1,037 tenders and auctions. The number of bids submitted by suppliers and contractors increased by 15%, rising from 4,809 to 5,554. This expansion provided more options for procuring entities and contributed to higher-quality bids.

The total value of awarded contracts saw a significant increase, with 2,032 tenders and auctions awarded, amounting to over BHD 2.112 billion, a 24.3% rise compared to the previous year. To promote greater participation and improve the business environment, the number of registered contractors and suppliers in the e-Procurement System grew by 9.8%, reaching 12,547 from 11,423 the year before. This growth reflects the increasing utilisation of the Board’s services and its vital role in supporting the national economy.

The report also highlighted notable improvements in response times during 2024. Despite a 13.5% increase in requests from procuring entities, suppliers, and contractors, the speed of processing applications improved markedly. The rate of completing applications within 14 days or less rose to 98% from 90.4% in 2023. Additionally, 85.2% of applications were processed within a week, compared to 69.7% the previous year. These enhancements represent a 7.6% improvement in the speed of response, despite the total number of applications increasing to 15,608 from 13,750 in 2023.

Furthermore, the report noted that the Tender Board increased its support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a 36% increase in tenders and auctions awarded to SMEs in 2024. A total of 294 tenders and auctions were awarded to 136 SMEs, with a combined value of BD 80.5 million.
