The Tender Board organised an introductory workshop on the roles and responsibilities of internal tender, auction, procurement, and sales committees in government entities. The event was attended by 95 chairpersons and committee members, representing over 50 entities from various ministries, authorities, and government companies subject to the Government Tenders, Auctions, Procurement, and Sales Law.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among government personnel about the responsibilities of these committees and to enhance their technical and procedural readiness. This falls within a series of programs implemented by the Board to improve the efficiency of the government procurement system.
His Excellency Eng. Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, Secretary General of the Tender Board, affirmed that this workshop reflects the Board's ongoing commitment to improving the performance of tender, auction, procurement, and internal sales committees within government entities. This increases compliance with legal provisions and promotes best practices in managing government procurement and sales operations. He added that the initiative supports government personnel in acquiring the necessary knowledge and expertise to implement regulations effectively, ensuring transparency and integrity across all processes.
The workshop highlighted the procedures and processes related to government tenders and clarified the roles and responsibilities of internal tender, auction, procurement, and sales committees. This ensures the soundness of internal procedures within government entities and their compliance with the provisions of the Government Tenders, Auctions, Procurement, and Sales Law, its implementing regulations, and the relevant decisions and circulars issued by the Board.
The workshop included a detailed explanation of the mechanisms for preparing and implementing tenders and auctions, bid evaluation procedures, negotiation controls, and award decision procedures. A Q&A session was also held to answer participants' questions and facilitate the exchange of experiences.
Participants praised the initiative, affirming the importance of such workshops in enhancing their technical and procedural capabilities. This consequently improves institutional performance and achieves optimal results in the field of government tenders, procurement, and sales.
