Bahrain Tenders Board (BTB) has recently obtained the accreditation certificate for ethics in procurement for organisations issued by the Chartered Institute for Procurement and Supply (CIPS). This achievement comes after its members completed the training and successfully passed the exam in several areas of ethical procurement and supply management.
Commenting on this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Yaser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Chairman of BTB, affirmed that obtaining this certification by the Tender Board reflects its steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency in effectively and efficiently managing procurement operations. He stressed, at the same time that it highlights the strategy it adopts to continue following the best international practices in the procurement and supply sector.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, Secretary General of BTB, explained that the General Secretariat’s is keen to develop the skills of its employees and modernise procurement methodologies in all departments and divisions. He further explained that this is done in a manner consistent with international standards in this field, aiming to enhance the principle of transparency and integrity in the Board’s dealings with partners from Purchasing Authority, suppliers, and contractors.
The Secretary General added that this contributes to raising the level of quality and enhancing competitiveness among various sectors. Moreover, he elaborated that the Board's acquisition of this professional certificate is part of an integrated strategy to Institutionalize the government purchases and sales sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and enhance procedural governance.
He highlighted that this certification complements the Tenders Board's recent achievement of ISO "9001:2015" certification in quality management.
It is worth mentioning that CIPS is the largest organisation in the world in the field of procurement and supply. It serves as the primary international reference for best practices and procedures in the field that aims to achieve qualitative and quantitative sustainability, as well as the desired added value during all stages of the procurement, contracting and supply processes.
